SJI Calls For Four Year Pilot Basic Income Scheme For Artists.

Artists have been among the worst hit by the pandemic.

Social Justice Ireland is calling for the introduction of a four-year pilot Universal Basic Income scheme for artists.

The scheme would offer people who made their living as an artist €203 per week.

The Programme for Government committed to a basic income pilot in July last year, and In November, the Arts and Culture Recovery Taskforce recommended such a scheme.

Artists have been among the worst hit by the pandemic.

The campaigning groups will host a seminar today involving representative from the arts and trade union sectors to give their responses.

Money is being invested in the arts, but its going to the wrong places, according to a Dublin Councillor.
