There is good news for Kildare holiday makers, who may need a new passport.
Passport offices in Dublin and Cork are to operate extended opening hours to keep up with demand.
Extra overtime will be made available to staff, which could see offices operate seven-days a week.
Around 1.7 million passport applications are expected to be made in the weeks and months ahead as people book holidays.
Fine Gael Senator Garrett Ahearn says he has been given assurances of the measures by the Transport Minister:
