O'Connell Street Cleared After Major Garda Operation

Protesters have been removed from Dublin's main thoroughfare following an overnight Garda operation, with the area expected to reopen.

O'Connell Street has been cleared of protesters after a large-scale Garda operation overnight.

The street and surrounding areas were sealed off in the early hours, with officers directing crowds to disperse. Protesters left peacefully, while tractors and trucks that had been blocking the road were gradually removed, some under Garda escort.

Gardaí say the operation involved significant resources and has been largely successful, with the street expected to reopen once remaining vehicles are cleared.

A cabinet meeting is due to take place later today to consider potential supports for affected sectors, including hauliers, farmers, and the fishing industry.
