Irish Defence Force Members Leaving For Better Jobs And Work-Life Balance

There's over 1700 fewer personnel than the minimum of 9500 which the country's military is supposed to have.

Members of the Defence Forces are leaving their roles for better paid jobs and a better life-work balance.

PDFORRA says members with decades of experience are facing a cross roads in their careers.

The body, which represents Defence Forces personnel, says numbers are already at an all-time low.

There's over 1700 fewer personnel than the minimum of 9500 which the country's military is supposed to have.

PDFORRA President, Mark Keane, says the exit rates from the Defence Forces are unsustainable:
