An early morning Garda operation has ended the blockade at Galway Port, with protesters dispersing from the area.
A blockade at Galway Port has been brought to an end after a coordinated Garda operation earlier today.
Members of the Garda Public Order Unit moved in shortly before 8am, dismantling barricades made from pallets, railings, and felled trees that had been erected overnight.
Protesters were directed to leave the area, with many doing so peacefully, though some resistance was reported.
Gardaí have since secured access to the port terminal, with a number of trucks and tractors still present following the clearance.
