US President Donald Trump is expected to announce tariffs at 9pm Irish Time

As the EU braces for new US tariffs, the Irish Government fears retaliation against US tech firms based in Ireland. The European Commission is preparing countermeasures, including potential tariffs on €20 billion worth of US goods.

Ireland, home to many US tech headquarters, has urged Brussels to avoid actions that could harm its economy. The Government expects broad 20% tariffs on Irish exports, impacting food, drink, and pharma sectors.

US President Donald Trump is set to announce the tariffs at 9 PM Irish time, with details closely guarded. The EU is expected to hold off immediate retaliation but signal future actions while pushing for negotiations.
