The discovery was made at around 6pm on Tuesday evening.
Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating the discovery of a man's body at a house near Miltownpass yesterday evening.
The State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau have both been called in to assist local Gardaí.
The man’s body was discovered in a house, in the Rattin area of county Westmeath, around 6 kilometres from Miltownpass just after 6 o’clock yesterday evening.
The man believed to have been in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
And to date, Gardaí are treating the investigation as ‘the discovery of a body in unexplained circumstances’.
The State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau have been called in, to assist local Gardaí in the investigation.
The coroner has also been notified, and a post-mortem examination is likely to be carried out of the man’s body today.
