ASTI Members Vote For Industrial Action Over Leaving Cert Reforms

ASTI members have voted in favour of industrial action, if needed, against Leaving Cert reform proposals.

They have also rejected support measures from the Department of Education in the Senior Cycle implementation proposals.

The union says second-level teachers have significant concerns about bringing in such radical change in an effective way.

According to a Labour Party TD, Leaving Cert reform is doomed to fail without teachers’ support.

Labour education spokesperson Eoghan Kenny has called on the Minister for Education to pause the pace of the reforms.

Deputy Kenny says change is good and needed, but urges rushing it won’t benefit anyone and simply won't work:
