Workshop To Outline Rationale For €1.6m Cycle Lane Between Moone And Timolin

Officials from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TTI) will host the workshop at the Moone parish hall on Tuesday, 2 September, from 3-7pm.

A workshop is set to take place this Tuesday to explain the rationale behind a controversial €1.6m cycle lane on the R448 road between Moone and Timolin.

Officials from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TTI) will host the workshop at the Moone parish hall on Tuesday, 2 September, from 3-7pm.

The €1.6 million project is part of a national pilot scheme by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, being delivered by Kildare County Council.

Supporters claim it will improve road safety and connect rural communities.

But locals say it’s a waste of money, poorly planned, and unwanted.

Critics claim the cycleway begins and ends without connecting major population centres and cite minimal existing cycling activity on the route.
