Emergency services attended the scene shortly after 9pm.
A man in his 30's has drowned in Carlow.
It's understood he got into difficulty while swimming in the River Barrow last night, however Gardaí say they're investigating all circumstances surrounding his death.
Emergency services attended at around 9.20pm and efforts to revive the man were made however he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.
Gardaí are treating his death as a tragic accident.
