Signage has already been installed at a nearby bridge which experienced traffic accidents beforehand.
A local councillor has raised concerns about some junctions near Prosperous that he believes are in need of solar powered traffic warning signage.
He cited Dagwelds cross and Firmount Cross as two junctions where such signage was badly needed.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Fianna Fáil Councillor for Clane-Maynooth MD Daragh Fitzpatrick says the signs have already been beneficial in other places where traffic accidents had previously been an issue:
"This motion came about as a result of numerous accidents at Healy's bridge, and several safety measures were put in there.
"In August, solar powered panels were put in on each side of the bridge, it's a flashing light that's really reflective, it has the natural effect of slowing traffic down."
Cllr Fitzpatrick believed that the signage would be useful in the interim before significant roadworks are implemented at the two junctions.
He added that following engagement with the Kildare County Council area officer, that he is "looking forward at some time in the near future" for the panels to be installed in the aforementioned junctions.
KCC say that the Municipal District Office installs solar powered traffic warning signs where deemed appropriate in line with the council’s Traffic Calming Guidelines and the Traffic Signs Manual, adding that these are assessed for suitability at junctions on a site-specific basis.
