Wicklow Produce Stunning Comeback To Win Tailteann Cup

Sunday, 12 July 2026 at 12:19

By Mark Hanbidge

Wicklow completed an incredible fightback from 13 points down to defeat Down and lift the Tailteann Cup.

Wicklow pulled off one of the greatest comebacks seen at Croke Park, overturning a 13-point deficit to beat Down and claim the Tailteann Cup.

After trailing heavily early in the second half, the Garden County stormed back with a dominant display, capped by Dean Healy's crucial goal.

The victory not only seals silverware for Wicklow, but also earns them a place in the 2027 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.
