Shamrock Rovers lost 3-2 on aggregate, athletics update and racing.

SOCCER

Shamrock Rovers missed out on a place in the third round of qualifying for the Champions League last night.

Stephen Bradley's side beat Ararat-Armenia 2-1 in the second leg of their tie in Tallaght Stadium - but lost 3-2 on aggregate

They'll now drop down to the Europa League, and face KF Egnatia of Albania in the third qualifying round.

Elsewhere, Hearts crashed out of the Champions League with a 6-0 aggregate defeat to Sturm Graz.

Liverpool are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports from France suggest that the forward has reached a verbal agreement to move to Anfield, but the two clubs are yet to settle on a fee.

Arsenal are also keen to sign the 23-year-old France star, after Real Madrid said Vinicius Junior will not be leaving.

ATHLETICS

Sharlene Mawdsley says she is doing "everything possible" to recover quickly from a hamstring injury ahead of the European Athletics Championships.

The Tipperary sprinter pulled up during the 200-metres final at the National Track and Field Championships in Santry on Saturday.

She was included in the 20-person Ireland squad heading to Birmingham next month.

She will compete in the long jump and the javelin, before rounding out her campaign with the 800-metres tonight.

O'Connor is chasing a first-ever senior outdoor gold medal.
