Stephen Kenny Leaves Post As Ireland Manager

His 3 and a half year term has ended

The FAI are to look for a new Republic of Ireland men's team manager after deciding not to renew Stephen Kenny's contract.

The Dublin native paid the price for failing to guide the national team to the European Championship finals.

He managed the Boys in Green 40 times over a 3 and a half year spell.

Kenny has released a statement to say it was 'the ultimate honour' to manage his country and that his 'commitment to Irish football remains resolute'.

Lee Carsley, Chris Hughton, Roy Keane and Neil Lennon are some of the names being floated for the now vacant role in the morning newspapers.

The FAI are also without a permanent manager for the women's senior team.
