Sam Bennett Not Selected For The Olympic Games.

The Irishman will miss out in Tokyo, as a result of an injury.

Sam Bennett hasn't been selected for the Irish road cycling team going to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Last year's Green Jersey winner Tour de France is expected to have recovered in time from a knee injury which forced his withdrawal from this year's Tour.

However - the Olympic Road Race course is deemed "too hilly" for Ireland's sprint specialist.

Dan Martin, Nicolas Roche - who raced in Rio in 2016 - are joined on the team by Olympic debutant Eddie Dunbar to compete in the Road Race.

Roche will also compete in the Time Trial.
