Kildare Minors Suffer Leinster Semi Final Defeat

Goals from Fionn Cooke and Elliot Bryne were not enough to beat Dublin.

Kildare have suffered a disappointed defeat to Dublin in the Leinster Minor Football Championship semi final at Parnell Park.

Goals from Fionn Cooke and Elliot Bryne were not enough to stop the Dubs winning by 0-13 2-05.

Kildare dug deep to overcome difficult starts to both halves.

Cyril Kevlihan's team were trailing by 4 points when Gavin Thompson finally got them on the scoreboard with a 22nd minute free.

The sides were level moments later thanks to Cooke’s goal.

Leading by a single point at the break Dublin extended their advantage to five before momentum swung back in the visitors' favour.

Kildare hit 1-03 without reply including Bryne’s goal to take them into lead with just five minutes remaining.

Unfortunately the home side finished the stronger.

Dublin scored the game's last three points to record a two point victory.

Ger McNally spoke to Kildare boss Cyril Kevlihan after the match.
