Harrington Drops McIlroy After Diasterous Ryder Cup Start

Members of 43rd Ryder Cup via RyderCup/Twitte

McIlroy had played in 26 straight matches since making his debut in 2010.

Rory McIlroy has been dropped from a Ryder Cup session for the first time in his career.

Europe face an uphill battle as they trail the USA 6-2 heading into the second day of action at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin

It's the biggest lead the Americans have ever had after the first day.

McIlroy, who was beaten 5&3 in his foursomes match with Ian Poulter and 4&3 with Shane Lowry, will sit out today’s opening foursomes.

The Ulsterman had played in 26 straight Ryder Cup matches since making his debut in 2010.

Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia are the only European pair to win a match so far

They will return to the course against Daniel Berger and Brooks Koepka at 1.05 Irish time.

Captain Padraig Harrington says they need a big second day.
