Eadestown had an ideal start, an early goal saw them leading by 4 points with just 2 minutes played.
Portlaoise hit back with their own goal to cut the deficit to a single point midway through the first half.
The visitors managed to pull away again with two unanswered points and led by 1-05 to 1-02 at the break.
