Naas resident and former Ireland B Soccer International Goalkeeper
Former Shamrock Rovers, Drumcondra, Shelbourne and Dundalk goalkeeper Eamonn D'Arcy has died aged 89.
He won two League of Ireland titles with the Rovers in the late 50s and made four appearances for the club in the European Cup against Manchester United (1957) and OGC Nice (1959)
He joined Drumcondra LOI club in 1962 where he won another league title in 1965.
Eamonn won two caps with Republic of Ireland 'B'.
He, also, managed the Ireland women's team from 1984 to '86.
Living in Naas for many years, the Clogher Rd., Crumlin native, universally affectionately known by his nickname "Sheila", maintained a keen interest in all soccer matters over the years, including local soccer in the county.
And, in fact, was instrumental in nominating Kfm for the 2011 Programme Interview of the Year award, which Kfm won.
