Tanaiste Says Secondment Controversy Could Have Been Avoided

Tony Holohan's move to Trinity on hold.

The Tanaiste says the controversy over Tony Holohan's secondment could have been avoided if ministers had been consulted in advance.

The Chief Medical Officer's due to become a professor at Trinity College Dublin, but the State will continue to pay his 187-thousand euro salary.

The government has paused the appointment and called for a report into its funding and recruitment process.
