"Road traffic is almost back to pre-Covid levels but the numbers on public transport is yet to recover.
According to the Irish Independent, the volume of passengers on Irish Rail services overall is at 60 per cent. But its just 50 per cent on Dart and commuter services.
It's around 70 per cent of pre-pandemic levels on the Luas, while on Dublin Bus passenger numbers are at 73 per cent, rising to 84 per cent at the weekends.
Daily traffic counts on motorways and national routes were down around 9 per cent on the same time in 2019 - but its believed volumes of short journey traffic is high.
It's thought incentives such as free travel days could be used to to get more people back on public transport."
