He'll be sentenced in October
A well-known criminal solicitor has admitted assaulting a former colleague along the quays in Dublin.
Cahir O'Higgins, whose legal firm is based on Parkgate Street in Dublin city centre, also apologised to his victim in court for what happened.
For years Mr. O’Higgins’ legal practice has been among the top earners in the State’s criminal legal aid payment scheme.
Last year, the 47 year old was charged with assault causing harm to another well-known criminal solicitor, who used to work for him before he started his own practice.
Today, O’Higgins pleaded guilty to that charge.
Standing in the dock with his head down, he apologised to his victim, Stephen O’Mahony, and to Mr O’Mahony’s family, and his own family for what he described as, 'the shame, difficulty and embarrassment' caused to them.
A sentence hearing has been penciled in for a date in October.
