Social Democrats Don't Have Confidence The National Development Plan Will Be Delivered

The €165 billion strategy was unveiled yesterday.

The Social Democrats say they don't have confidence in the government delivering the National Development Plan.

Yesterday, the Government announced a €165 billion investment plan across health, housing, transport and education for the next decade.

However, the plan has been criticised for a lack of specific timelines.

Social Democrats Co-Leader Roisin Shorthall, says the lack of confidence from the Transport Minister was disappointing:

The Environment Minister says Ireland's planning legislation must be reviewed, to avoid delays in building new public transport infrastructure.

Eamonn Ryan has defended the NDP but admits it will take time before major projects, including the proposed Dublin Metro Link, breaks ground.

He says new legislation will speed up the timeline of the plan
