RSA Pushes To Double Penalty Points If Caught Speeding Or Using Mobile Phone Whilst Driving

80 people have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year.

A man’s whose 16-year-old daughter was killed crossing the road says there should be ‘no mercy’ for drivers who break the law.

The Road Safety Authority says emergency legislation should be introduced to double penalty points for drivers caught speeding or using a phone.

80 people have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year, while 137 drivers were arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving over the weekend.

Leo Lieghio from Irish Road Victims Association says a much tougher approach is needed:
