A pedestrian, aged in his 70s, has died after being hit by a car in County Laois.
It happened on the Main Street of Abbeyleix last night close to 7 o'clock.
The man was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore where he was pronounced dead.
The road has since reopened following a technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
