Over 2,300 Drivers Have Been Detected Speeding

While 134 people were arrested driving under the influence of drink or drugs

Gardaí have carried out 1,300 checkpoints over the past week as part of the Christmas Road Safety Campaign.

Over 2,300 drivers were detected speeding.

Some notable cases were a driver caught doing 128 kilometres per hour in an 80 kilometre zone in County Monaghan, and another travelling at 117 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometre zone in County Cork.

134 people were arrested for driving under the influence of a drink or drugs.
