Man Dies After Jeep Hits Electricity Pole In East Wall

A man in his 60s who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transferred to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A man has died in a crash in Dublin's north inner city overnight.

The single-vehicle collision happened when a jeep hit an electricity pole on East Wall Road just before midnight.

A man in his 60s who was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transferred to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The East Wall Road is currently closed between the North Strand Road and Alfie Byrne Road for a technical exam by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, or those who were in the area at the time, to come forward.
