Landmark EU Nature-Restoration Law Is Passed

The decision was taken at a meeting of EU environment ministers in Luxembourg this morning.

EU member states have approved the Nature Restoration Law.

The decision was taken at a meeting of EU environment ministers in Luxembourg this morning.

The law requires all member states to introduce measures to restore nature on at least a fifth of their land and sea by 2030, and all ecosystems by 2050.

The Irish Farmers' Association says there is huge uncertainty around how the new law will be interpreted.

Environment Minister Eamon Ryan says it is a "future-looking" and important day.
