It follows a report by ESB submitted to Government
A Government ordered report into plug-in solar panels has approved the introduction of the technology.
The report by ESB Networks was submitted to the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment on the 1st of October.
Earlier this year, on the request of the Government a working group was established by ESB Networks to assess the feasibility of plug in solar.
The organisation says it submitted that report last month.
A spokesperson from the Department has confirmed the report found that a safe pathway exists to facilitate the introduction of the technology, once an independent safety assessment and legislative review takes place.
It's yet to be submitted to Cabinet but once approved people will be able to use plug in solar in a household socket, with the Government reviewing systems that are up to 800 Watts.
