Gardai appeal for witnesses
Gardai in Cork have issued a witness appeal after an officer was struck in a suspected hit and run.
It happened on the Monahan Road near Pairc Ui Caoimh at about 7pm.
A motorcyclist hit an officer who was conducting a checkpoint as part of the operation around an Elton John concert.
The biker did not remain at the scene and the Garda was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment on non life threatening injuries.
Gardai at Anglesea Street Station are urging any witnesses or anyone who has camera footage from the corner of the Monahan and Victoria roads to come forward.
