The Central Statistics Office today published the Labour Force Survey for Quarter 2 2023.
It shows the employment rate of over 74 per cent , the highest since records began in 1998.
The number of people employed increased by 88,400 or 3.5 per cent to 2 million six hundred and forty three thousand in the 12 months to the second quarter.
The sector that saw the largest growth in employment in the year was in Public Administration and Defence, up 11.2 per cent.
There was a decrease in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing sector , down 6.3 per cent.
