Dublin Frontline Gardaí Begin Using Body Cameras

After the initial rollout in Dublin, the use of body cameras will extend to Limerick and Waterford.

Frontline gardaí in Dublin have begun wearing body cameras this morning.

150 gardaí in the capital will now be able to gather evidence with the cameras, with a further 200 Dublin-based gardaí to be trained in the next fortnight.

The roll-out will then be extended to Limerick and Waterford cities.

The cameras will be worn on the jackets of gardaí, and be turned on and off manually - they'll have a flashing red light or display a live-stream screen, to alert members of the public that they're being recorded.
