Kildare North TD says accents in Irish names must be respected in official systems
Sinn Féin is calling for legal protections so people's names are correctly spelt to include fadas.
The party wants to bring in new rules to make sure fadas appear in people's names and addresses.
The accent, which can feature on vowels in the Irish language, changes the meaning and pronunciation of words.
