It happened on the M3 in Dunshaughlin
A man in his 50s has died after a single car crash in County Meath overnight.
It happened on the M3 in Dunshaughlin shortly after 1am, when the vehicle struck a ditch.
Tom Donohoe reports:
"Shortly after 1am Gardai in Meath received reports that a car had veered off the road and hit a ditch between Dunshaughlin and Dunboyne on the M3.
The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was fatally injured and his body has been removed from the scene.
The road has been closed between Junctions 5 and 6, pending a technical examination of the scene.
Local diversions are in place in the mean time.
Gardai in Ashbourne are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to come forward.
They're particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was travelling on the M3, or has camera footage from the scene between half past twelve and twenty past one this morning"
