Strong winds, heavy rain and dangerous coastal conditions expected over Easter weekend

Strong winds are set to impact Ireland this weekend with the arrival of Storm Dave, prompting Met Éireann to issue a nationwide Status Yellow wind warning.

The warning will take effect from 3pm on Saturday until midnight on Sunday, with forecasters predicting very strong southerly winds, turning westerly later on Saturday. Severe gusts and coastal gales are expected.

Met Éireann said the storm could lead to fallen trees, difficult travelling conditions, wave overtopping and debris being displaced.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a Yellow wind warning for Northern Ireland, covering counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry from Saturday afternoon into early Sunday.

It warned the storm could cause damage and disruption, particularly to travel.
