A Status Orange thunderstorm and rain warning has been issued for Kildare and the entire country.
Met Éireann said the thunderstorms, along with very heavy rain showers, can be expected this afternoon.
The warning will be in operation until 6pm.
Flash flooding, difficult travelling conditions and power outages are possible.
The unsettled weather will continue tomorrow with more heavy and thundery showers possible.
