Schools have told parents they don't have the resources.
Its alleged that some schools in Kildare have informed parents they do not have the resources to fulfill the Summer Programme for students with special educational needs and those facing disadvantage.
This week, it was announced that up to €40 million in funding will be available for the programme, nationally.
That's a 100% increase on the allocation for summer provision in 2020.
The funding is open to primary and post primary schools.
However, parents of children attending schools in mid Kildare have contacted Kfm Radio, saying their child's school is not in a position to provide the programme, citing resource issues.
Kfm Radio has requested statements.
Kildare Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin, has been speaking to Kildare Today, and says she is taken aback by the schools' positions.
Senator O'Loughlin joined Clem Ryan on Friday morning's edition of the programme, where they also discussed legislation giving adopted people access to their birth certificate, and additional funding for lactation consultants.
