The new rules are being implemented due to the rising Covid cases.
Naas General Hospital have implemented visiting restrictions following recent increases in COVID-19 admissions to the hospital and increasing COVID-19 and flu infections circulating within the wider community.
Visiting will be facilitated on compassionate grounds and family and friends are asked to contact the hospital to make these arrangements with ward staff.
The hospital is advising people attending the Emergency Department to attend alone if possible and wear a high quality surgical mask and use the hand gel regularly during their visit to the hospital.
It said it is also important that patients ensure to inform ED staff if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 or Influenza or have been in contact with anyone with COVID-19 or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.
The Emergency Department is very busy and leading to lengthy waiting times.
As a result Naas General Hospital is appealing to the public to consider all care options before attending the Emergency Department, saving its use for those patients who need urgent/emergency care.
The hospital is asking the public to contact their GP during normal surgery hours or the KDOC GP Out of Hours service in the first instance if their health problem is not urgent.
