Naas Apartment Plan Rejected With Visual Impact And Property Values Cited As Concerns

The council cited issues including inappropriate scale, over-development, and conflict with local planning policies as reasons for refusal.

Kildare County Council has refused planning permission for a proposed 14-unit residential development at Oldbridge Station, Osberstown, Naas.

The proposed development comprised a three-storey block with seven two-bedroom apartments and seven three-bedroom duplex units.

The council cited issues including inappropriate scale, over-development, and conflict with local planning policies as reasons for refusal.

The site, considered a small infill location on the edge of Naas, was deemed unsuited to the scale and bulk of the proposed three-storey structure.

Planners found the development failed to respect the established low-density character of surrounding housing.

The height of the proposed block, in close proximity to existing single-storey dwellings, was found to create an abrupt and visually intrusive transition.

The council said the proposal would injure residential amenities and property values in the vicinity and set an undesirable precedent for similar developments.
