Kildare Rents Are Now 111% Above Their Lowest Point: Daft.ie.

The average rent in the county is €1,482 per month.

Rents in Kildare have risen by 8% over the last year, and are now 111% higher than their lowest point

That's according to the latest report by Daft.ie, for Quarter 2.

It shows the average rent in the county is €1,482, up 2.1% on the fist three months of the year

Nationally, rents have increased by 5.6%, which Daft.ie says is "the strongest year-on-year increase since mid-2019".

Supply remains an issue all over Ireland -  2,455 rental homes were available across the country in the study period. This is lowest number on record

But, Ronan Lyons, economist at Trinity College Dublin and author of the Daft report, says attempting to ban rent increases won't actually solve the problem:

Ronan Lyons joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today for an extended interview on the report.

While a group representing auctioneers and property valuers, says there's a lot of uncertainty in the rental market.

Pat Davitt, Chief Executive of the IPAV, says the Government need to do more to reassure landlords:
