Kildare Diners Warned To Expect Price Hikes

Hospitality Sector claims consumers will be hit by planned VAT increase.

Kildare diners are being warned they may pay more for a meal out from the beginning of September.

The government is expected to increase the rate of VAT in the Hospitality Sector from 9% to 13.5%

The rate was reduced as a measure to protect businesses during the height of the covid-19 pandemic.

Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Adrian Cummins, warns consumer will end up footing the bill if the rate increases.
