Kildare Based Wind Group Says Floating Wind Energy Could Transform Ireland.

WEI says proactive approach from the Government is needed to ensure floating wind turbines are in the water before 2030.

Kildare based Wind Energy Ireland says floating wind energy can transform Ireland into a European renewable energy superpower.

That's if the right policies are put in place to enable the industry to start building floating wind farms in the 2020s.

It believes a proactive approach from the Government is needed to ensure floating wind turbines are in the water before the end of the decade.

Wind Energy Ireland is based in Naas.

Its CEO, Noel Cunniffe, says the grid on the western and southern coasts must be developed
