Ongoing fuel protests have led to significant motorway closures across parts of Leinster, with Gardaí escorting tankers from Whitegate refinery.
Disruption continues across the region as fuel protests have forced the closure of key motorway routes.
The M9 motorway is currently closed in both directions between Kilkenny and Carlow, while further disruption is reported between Athy and Kilcullen. The M7 motorway is also affected, with closures in place between Kill and Johnstown.
Gardaí are managing the situation on multiple fronts, including facilitating the movement of fuel supplies. Seven tankers have now been filled and have departed the Whitegate Oil Refinery under Garda escort.
Motorists are being advised to expect delays and seek alternative routes as the situation remains ongoing, with closures expected to remain in place until at least 7.30pm, and potentially longer.
