Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr Peter Hamilton said Eirgrid are nervous about connecting projects locally because grids are under pressure.
He said a steering committee has been established as part of the Maynooth decarbonising zone plan.
It will examine Eirgrid's infrastructural needs, local growth plans and the needs of the ESB Network.
