The Straffan resident lost his appeal against a High Court jury's decision this afternoon
Conor McGregor has lost his appeal against a High Court jury’s decision that he raped Nikita Hand.
Ms. Hand brought a civil case against the MMA fighter, claiming he raped her at a Dublin hotel on 9 December 2018. The jury found in her favour and awarded her nearly €250,000 in damages.
Mr. McGregor had planned to present new evidence during the appeal, aiming to offer an alternative explanation for bruising sustained by Ms. Hand. However, he withdrew that application as the hearing got underway.
The court has indicated that it intends to refer the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
