This will be used as a template for other playgrounds around the county if successful.
A scheme piloting the use of communications boards in play areas is underway in Newbridge,
The boards benefit children with Austism and are designed to help to overcome language barriers, as well as encouraging imaginative play.
KCC says the scheme in Newbridge "will be used as a template for other playgrounds around the county if successful."
The boards cost around €2,500 each, and the council says "providing these in 30 playgrounds the cost is high so a budget would also have to be identified to provide the signs."
And, it adds "The role out of communication boards beyond the pilot scheme would have to be considered in the context of existing commitments in our works programme and delivering projects which have been already committed to like Allenwood Playground first."
