Over 25% of those on social housing lists are over 50.
Older people in Kildare and across the country face unique challenges if they lose their private rented homes.
That is according to the charity that supports vulnerable older people, ALONE.
More than a quarter of those on social housing lists are over 50, and with fixed income such as pensions, many could find it impossible to find a new home in the private rental market.
ALONE CEO Sean Moynihan said the Government needs to plan for the needs of an ageing population.
