Calls have been reiterated by locals for enhanced GP and medical services in Ballymore Eustace.
The population is growing and according to the 2022 Census, it has the oldest population in County Kildare.
With new housing estates such as Tinnycross Park and River Walk being built in recent years, the population is growing rapidly but there is growing frustration that health services are not adequate.
Currently, the Medical Centre on the Naas Road operates two morning clinics a week, on Mondays and Tuesdays, however it doesn't open on the 10 bank holidays of the year.
Furthermore, it is a medical card only service and some locals have had to resort to making appointments in Naas and Blessington instead.
One local told Kfm that health services were better in the village in the early 2000s, with various GPs covering the clinic.
Fianna Fail Senator Fiona O'Loughlin raised the issue in the Seanad this week, while local Cllr. Evie Sammon told Kfm that she and Martin Heydon have followed up with the HSE on a number of occasions on the matter.
Kfm understands that there are a number of GPs who would be willing to operate a full service in Ballymore Eustace, but the current GP covering the medical card service is within contract.
