Taoiseach & Education Minister Norma Foley insist reopening will go ahead even in the face of the Delta wave.

Cabinet Ministers are being updated on plans to reopen schools next month at a meeting today.

Despite a commitment to keep schools open earlier this year, there was a closure due to the spread of Covid-19 in January.

Both Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Education Minister Norma Foley have insisted the reopening will go ahead even in the face of the Delta wave.

CO2 monitors will be made available to schools to ensure air quality is kept at safe levels for staff and students.

Teaching union the ASTI has said while it's concerned about the spread of the virus all teachers should be vaccinated by the time schools re-open.

Martin Marjoram lives in Leixlip and is President of the Teachers' Union of Ireland.

He joined Clem Ryan on Tuesday's edition of Kildare Today.
