Property previously owned by Mansfield family
For the first time, the Criminal Assets Bureau has seized an asset linked to Daniel Kinahan.
CAB convinced the High Court that a mansion in Dublin, previously owned by the Mansfield family, was acquired by the proceeds of crime.
It's reported despite several attempts to serve papers to Mr. Kinahan, at various addresses in Dubai, he never engaged.
Daniel Kinahan was not in court today, nor was he represented
The judge was told 45 year-old Kinahan is suspected of being in a "leadership role" in the international criminal gang, known as the Kinahan Organised Crime Group.
Papers were also served on his associate, Thomas ‘Bomber’ Kavanagh, through the door of his cell in a high-security prison in England, where he’s serving a lengthy sentence for drug trafficking.
He did not take part either.
The court was satisfied Daniel Kinahan knew it was happening today, especially in light of the extensive media coverage.
The judge was also satisfied that the mansion in question, No 10 Coldwater Lakes in Saggart, Co Dublin, ended up under the control of the cartel as an attempt by disgraced businessman, Jim Mansfield Jnr, to pay back a €4.5m debt.
As well as the house, €3,850 in cash was also seized today by CAB.
It was found in a hidden compartment behind a safe in a room with documents belonging to Daniel Kinahan.
